Using Squeaky
Is cleaning safe?
Yes. Squeaky never touches system files, and everything it removes goes to the Trash first. Items are labelled Safe, Review or Careful, and only Safe items are ticked for you.
How do I undo a cleanup?
Open History in Squeaky and press Put back. This works until the Trash is emptied. Photos removed by Similar Photos can be recovered from Recently Deleted in the Photos app for 30 days.
Why does Squeaky need Full Disk Access?
macOS protects folders like the Trash and Mail. Full Disk Access lets Squeaky look inside them so it can clean them. Your files never leave your Mac. How to turn it on.
How does Malware Protection work?
Squeaky checks your apps, login items and downloads against a list of known Mac malware, and runs a quick security check-up of your settings. If it finds a threat, it moves it to quarantine. It works alongside the protections already built into macOS.
Does Squeaky run all the time?
Only if you want it to. The menu bar mini app and the weekly check-up are optional and very light. You can turn both off in Settings.
What do I need for Ask Squeaky?
On macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence on Apple silicon, Ask Squeaky uses Apple's private on-device AI. On other Macs it uses a built-in offline helper that still answers common questions.
Which languages are available?
English, Português (Brasil), Français, Español and العربية. Squeaky follows your Mac's language.
How do I remove Squeaky?
Quit Squeaky, then drag it from Applications to the Trash. That's all.

Where do I enter my license key?
In Squeaky, click the Trial badge at the bottom of the sidebar (or open Unlock Squeaky Pro), paste your key and press Activate.
I lost my license key
It's in your purchase email. You can also find it at Lemon Squeezy My Orders using the email you bought with.
I got a new Mac
On your old Mac, open the license screen and choose Remove license from this Mac. Then activate the same key on your new Mac. Can't reach the old Mac? Just write to us.
How do I cancel my yearly plan?
Open the link in your receipt email to manage your subscription, or write to us and we'll do it for you. Squeaky keeps working until the end of the year you paid for.
